I might be aging myself with this comment, but I'd imagine most people under 25 don't remember (or never knew) what the "M" in MTV stands for, or used to stand for. By the way, the "M" stands for Music!
Today marks the 41st anniversary of the launch of MTV. It was on this date, August 1st 1981, Alan Hunter, Mark Goodman, Nina Blackwood, our very own Martha Quinn, and the late J.J. Jackson became the world's first VJs with the launch of the first 24-hour music television station.
Check out the very first minutes of MTV below. By the way, as I look at it, video did not seem to kill the radio star.
