So my wife Michaela is a huge fan of Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime. She was watching an episode not long ago and I just happened to ask her if she still watches the original Law & Order and she laughed at me...I had no clue that the original wasn't on the air anymore (but of course, as of tonight, it's back...more on that in a second).
So, here is the very confusing chronology of Law & Order shows since the original premiered waaaaaayyyyy back in 1990 according to Showbiz CheetSheet:
- Law & Order 1990-2010, 2022-Present
- Law & Order: Special Victims Unit 1990-Present
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent 2001-2011
- Law & Order: Trial By Jury 2005-2006 (honestly, never heard of it)
- Law & Order: LA 2010-2011 (I guess people didn't dig the west coast version)
- Law & Order: True Crime (this was the mini-series type one with The Menendez Brother, etc.)
- Law & Order: Hate Crimes (this is set to premiere soon).
The original and only one without a colon in front of it is back as of tonight on NBC with many of the orginal cast coming back to their roles like Sam Waterson and Anthony Anderson.
