TV is so different than it used to be...when I was a kid, you got 22 or 24 episodes a year and then it was gone or on reruns in the summer, and then it just always came back in the fall for another 22 or 24 episodes. Now, it's like, you get 10 episodes of your favorite show, then you wait a year and a half, and then you get another 8.
When my wife Michaela and I finished up the second season of Ted Lasso on AppleTV+ last week, I felt a profound sense of loss, because who knows when we'll get the next season! I need my fix of Ted and Roy and Coach Beard!
If if watched the opening of the show, you might have noticed that the credits say the show is based on a character developed by NBC Sports. Ted Lasso is actually a character that Jason Sudeikis developed for a series of promos for NBC's American airing of the Premiere League (still can't get my head around the game of soccer or football or whatever).
So here it is, these are the original NBC Sports promos that would eventually inspire the show!
