People are putting spider ornaments on their Christmas trees and here's why

I'm sure you've heard the history of pickle ornaments on Christmas trees (if not click here) but are you aware of why people put spider ornaments on their Christmas trees? According to Delish.com, there's a sweet story about a Mom and her children who were too poor to decorate their Christmas tree so friendly spiders decorated it for them! They spun their elaborate webs on the tree overnight and when the family woke up Christmas morning the sunshine hit the tree turning the webs silver and gold, making it look like beautiful tinsel, and from then on the family had good fortune. The article goes on to explain that there could be a correlation in this legend to the idea that spiders are lucky and many now decorate their tree with spider-shaped ornaments.
