Make It Through Monday - Milwaukee Woman Paints Flags For Vets' Headstones

Painting wooden pallets is all the rage right now but a Milwaukee woman is painting them for a great cause! According to WISN 12 News, she is transforming those wooden pallets into American Flags then using the money from sales to buy headstones for the dozens of unmarked veterans' graves. Dawn Nadboralski wants to buy headstones for all of the Civil War veterans' graves so she spends most of her free time in her father's garage painting the pallets. So far she's painted about 30 and sold 26. She came up with the idea to honor her late father who passed in 2018 and served in the Army for seven years. She had a hard time grieving and thought she'd turn that grief into paining pallets and selling them. Her goal was to purchase at least one headstone by the anniversary of her father's death and she ended up being able to purchase three by then! Nadboralski said each flag brings her closer to her father. "He loved anything to do with veterans when he was alive. He participated in pretty much anything he could to support the service. He would be ecstatic. Doing this has also helped me through my own grieving, so it's like my own therapy too. I'm doing it out of his garage using his tools. He would be very proud."
