LIST: Stores Closing Locations in 2020

It makes me so sad knowing stores just can't make enough money so they need to close down locations. If I could afford it I'd shop at all of them so they could keep their doors open and those employees don't lose their jobs but unfortunately I'm not made of money. Investing.com shared a list of stores that will be closing some locations in 2020 There's some I had already heard were struggling but there's also some on the list that surprised me. Listed below are a few that are closing locations and the rest can be found at Investing.com.

  1. Target - I was freaked out a bit when I saw this one on the list! Don't worry though revenue is up and they only plan to close about 6 locations by 2020 and will most likely be opening up more too.
  2. Bath & Body Works - 24 locations primarily in the U.S. will be closing for good.
  3. CVS - Closing 46 under-performing locations including its famous Springfield, Missouri location known as the "largest CVS in the world".
  4. Pier 1 - After already closing 30 stores they're looking to close an additional 145 locations.
  5. Payless ShoeSource - There have been suspicions and now it's confirmed that every single one of its 2,100 American stores will close by 2020.
  6. The Gap - They have a massive restructuring and re-branding planned to try to stay ahead of the competition and will be closing around 230 stores.
  7. Lowe's - Although currently the number two most profitable home improvement chain in America they're looking at closing around 51 stores.
  8. Macy's - After losing Boston Store I'm a little worried to hear Macy's is closing some locations. We probably won't be affected though as it seems only 9 locations will be closed in 2020.
  9. Bed Bath & Beyond - They're just looking at closing 40 stores for the time being but many are afraid that is just the start of it.
  10. Shopko - Having started in Green Bay, WI this makes me sad but as of 2020 this store will be no more after nearly six decades of business.
  11. Victoria's Secret - Last year they became the largest retailer of lingerie in the U.S. but to keep revenue up they plan to close more than 50 stores.
  12. Perkins & Marie Callender's - This one might make me the most sad. They have an awesome salad I love! After filing Chapter 11 earlier this year they announced the closure of all 29 locations.
  13. Signet Jewelers - I didn't realize this but they own Kay Jewelers, Jared and Zales. All big names when it comes to diamond shopping. They have a total of 5,000 stores but will be closing 150 locations.
