Although the 4th of July falls during such a busy time for me, I always look forward to the celebrations. The weather is usually nice, I get to enjoy time with family and friends and hopefully enjoy a few nice cold refreshing beverages too! On today's Happy Hour with Hannah and Otto's Wine & Spirits, we got to try the 90 Shilling Amber Ale and the Drumroll American Pale Ale and I loved them both! When it comes to beer "amber" is my favorite color and in the summer a nice refreshing fruit flavor is always a great option!
The 90 Shilling Ale is all about the British crystal and chocolate malt, pearle and nugget hops. It's very smooth and complex and is actually a flagship beer for Odell Brewing Co. It's a medium-bodied amber ale with a beautiful copper color and great aroma. The story behind the name 90 Shilling is cool too! According to OdellBrewing.com, it comes from the Scottish method of taxing beer as only the highest quality beers were taxed 90 Shillings. 90 Shilling is available in bottles, cans and on tap!
The Drumroll American Pale Ale is going to be your refreshing summer beer. It's bold, juicy and citrus-inspired with the tropical fruit tastes like pineapple, orange, mango and grapefruit! Odellbrewing.com explains that the complex fruit flavor comes from the combination of their favorite current crop year hops with no fruit or juice addition necessary! Drumroll is available in cans and on tap!
Although Odell Brewing Co. is new to Wisconsin, the brewery first opened in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1989 and is the 22nd largest craft brewery in American while only being sold in 18 states!
