New Discover Wisconsin episode this weekend as we head to Minocqua!

Minocqua is thought of as a summer destination, but this "Island City" destination is great for fall and winter visits, too. In our newest episode of Discover Wisconsin, I get to check out Beef-A-Rama, an annual celebration of all things beef that brings in over 70 expert grillers and roasters. Not only do I get to sample some amazing delicacies, I start off the day by dressing as a cow for the annual Rump Roast Run & Walk 5K in town and then participate in the beef-eating contest - you might say the calories netted themselves out. I also got to go back for winter fun, including snowmobiling along the Bearskin Trail that marches right through town and over the lake on a former railroad line. Mariah experiences kayaking fishing in the fall and skijoring in winter - that's essentially competitive cross country skiing with dogs that help pull you. The area is also one of the top places in the state for hunting, fishing, ATVing, and just about every outdoor recreation activity you can imagine.

The area also features two craft breweries: Minocqua Brewing in Minocqua and Rocky Reef Brewing in Woodruff, next door. The Northern Waters Distillery is in Minocqua along U.S. 51, right by where we stayed at The Waters of Minocqua. For kitsch, the World's Largest Penny is in Woodruff, and it's always fun to load up on breakfast at Paul Bunyan's Shanty.

Check out fall and winter fun in Minocqua on Discover Wisconsin this weekend on Fox Sports Wisconsin Saturday morning at 10, Saturday evening at 6:30 on WKOW-TV Channel 27 in Madison, or FOX 6 in Milwaukee Sunday morning at 10. It's also available on Amazon Fire, Roku, Apple TV, Google, and of course below - right now, as a matter of fact - on YouTube. Enjoy!
