Mike Judge, the guy who brought you the movie Office Space, has reached a deal to bring his earlier triumph back to television. Yes, friends, Beavis and Butt-head are coming back!
According to Variety, Comedy Central announced on June 30th that, as Variety notes, the "world’s favorite slacker teens" are coming back to the network, in a deal with Mike Judge, the original creator of Beavis and Butt-Head. Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the show, with the potential for more spin-offs and specials.
Beavis and Butt-Head originally debuted in 1993 on MTV, where they sat around, ripped on music videos, and then often went out and did (and said) stupid stuff. The laughs were rather infectious, for some reason. After ending in 1997, the show had a brief revival in 2011. There was also a 1996 movie in Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, and a spinoff show on MTV called Daria, based on a character from their show.
Judge, who will voice both characters once again, simply noted “It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again.”
