Summerfest 2020 officially cancelled; ticket refunds being offered

With all the COVID-19-related cancellations, we kind of knew this would happen, we were just hoping their attempt to move it to September could have possibly played out. Between safety concerns and the dizzying array of logistics required to pull off an 11-day, multi-stage festival, Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. concluded that the best course was to simply look ahead to 2021. They follow in the footsteps of Wisconsin State Fair, all the ethnic festivals on the lakefront, Jazz In the Park, Bay View Bash, and... well, you get the idea.

Summerfest is offering refunds for those who have already purchased tickets for the Big Gig in 2020. Meanwhile, we look to Summerfest 2021, which will run June 30th-July 11th, with the usual Monday exception (July 5th, 2021). Four headliner acts for the American Family Insurance Amphitheater are already lined up, all reschedules from 2020:

  • Dave Matthews Band, Thursday, July 1st
  • Halsey, Saturday, July 3rd
  • Chris Stapleton, Thursday, July 8th
  • Guns 'N Roses, date TBD

So, if you had anything else planned for the time Summerfest normally takes place, or for when they had weekends in September on the calendar for a while, now you're free. It's turning out to be a good year to work on other stuff anyway.
