Huey Lewis praises odd, but fun Twelve Foot Ninja cover of "Stuck With You"

Huey Lewis has been nursing his hearing issues caused by Ménière’s Disease but he's kept himself busy. Even though he says his hearing nowadays often resembles listening to things "through a blown speaker" he recently heard a cover of one of his Huey Lewis and the News hits performed by a band that ended up being rather weird, but very cool at the same time.

The Australian heavy metal group Twelve Foot Ninja decided to blast out a cover of "Stuck With You," a Huey Lewis and the News smash from their Fore! album in 1986. Working in separate studios (because, you know, COVID-19) the band members belted out the music and the lyrics with a variety of styles, eventually getting louder and heavier with it. The video also makes extensive use of filters and effects, creating an almost psychedelic feel at times. Turns out, Huey loved it. Check out the video here or below!

After hearing the song and viewing the video, Huey talked with Twelve Foot Ninja guitarist - and apparently head fan of Huey Lewis and the News among the group's members - Stevic MacKay. During the video chat, Huey said he was "flattered" the band covered their song, and MacKay talked about how he plays Huey Lewis and the News music loudly on their tour bus - something you wouldn't necessarily expect from a heavy metal group. But hey, genres can criss-cross, right?

Here's the full video chat between Lews and MacKay:
