We do "Cheese Curd Crawls" on the newest Discover Wisconsin episode

Wisconsin is home to so many great cheese factories that produce incredible cheeses and great, fresh cheese curds. And many places around the state serve 'em up in delicious and unique ways!

In this latest episode of "Discover Wisconsin," Mariah and I check out where some of Wisconsin's best cheese curds are made and touring the plants to see just how they're made - and why they squeak. I got to tour Arena Cheese on U.S. 14 in little Arena, Wisconsin, nearly an hour west of Madison.

Then, we both go on separate "cheese curd crawls" with friends. Mariah hits three locations in Madison, and I hit three locations in Milwaukee.

For the Milwaukee locations, we went to the Iron Horse Hotel, where they serve up tasty fried curds with some zesty dipping sauces. Next, we hit Black Sheep just down the street, where they offer pancake-batter curds - with a maple syrup dip that makes them a sweet treat! Finally, we went to 42 Ale House in St. Francis, where they offer standard fried curds that were delicious - but what knocked it out of the park was their Gluten-free Fried Cheese Curds, which have no breading at all! The style of cheese they use - cubed for better direct frying - gets fried right as they are and they crisp up just right on the outside while offering big fresh cheese flavor on the inside. All in all, amazingly good!

Check out the full episode below, here on YouTube, or on Fox Sports Wisconsin at 10am Saturday statewide. You can also check it out Sunday morning in the Milwaukee area on FOX6 or on local TV stations from the Dakotas to Michigan - just check local listings.

Enjoy!
