Ready to break resolutions? Try the OOMG Burger Challenge at the Safe House

Ready for a new food challenge in 2020? The Safe House, Milwaukee's legendary spy bar since 1966, cooks up some good food along with their Spy's Demise cocktail, Code Red beer (brewed by Leinenkugel's), and their martinis - shaken, not stirred - that fly through pneumatic tubing in the bar. They opened a Chicago location on State Street a few years ago and started the OOMG Burger Challenge down there. And now, this burger challenge has made its way to the flagship Safe House on Front Street here in town on Tuesday this month.

So what is the OOMG Burger Challenge? It's a 15 PATTY BURGER with 15 slices of cheese, a mix of cheddar, American, and pepperjack on a brioche bun. Think that's plenty? Well, there's no limit to gluttony! The Challenge includes the consumption of a POUND of fried WHITE CHEDDAR CURDS and dipping sauces, plus the downing of a 60-ounce Code Beer. The burger and curds alone will add 4 1/2 pounds to you as soon as you eat it.

You have however long you need that day to eat it all, but if you can finish it all in an hour or less, the $50 price is waived and it's on the (Safe) house! You'll get the satisfaction of accomplishing the OOMG Burger Challenge, a Safe House t-shirt, a 60-ounce beer chalice that says "Mission Impossible" on it, and they'll brag about you on social. Any Tums, Maalox, etc. is your responsibility.

Perhaps to avoid the Geneva Convention poking its nose in to wonder just what the heck is going on, The Safe House is only offering the OOMG Burger Challenge this month, on Tuesdays. So January 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. Because of the minimum 20-minute prep time, the Safe House recommends reservations if you plan on doing this. You have to sign a waiver and nobody can help you - this is something you have to do on your own!

While the burger looks delicious, albeit overwhelming - I'm starting to wonder if MMSD may have an issue with this.

Randy Santel, a guy who discovered videoing himself eating way too much food could serve as a moneymaker, tried the challenge. I'll share his video below just so you know what you might be in for:

And remember you still need to know the password to get in!
