He was one of the talents that brought Saturday Night Live back to prominence in the early 80s, then Eddie Murphy left to do movies. Now, after a 35-year hiatus, he's coming back to host SNL on December 21st.
As reported here from FOX Business, fellow SNL alum from the 80s Joe Piscopo said "I think it's long overdue that Eddie Murphy comes back to the comedy scene. I have such respect and love and I can't be objective because he is one of the funniest guys and not before or since. Eddie Murphy the king of comedy right there, it's gonna be awesome on 'Saturday Night Live.'"
Murphy did appear briefly on the show's 40th anniversary special in 2015 but otherwise wasn't been in Studio 8H since 1984.
While we wait for his December appearance, let's enjoy of his classic sketches from 1983... James Brown's Celebrity Hot Tub Party!
