Eddie Money reveals stage 4 esophageal cancer

Rocker Eddie Money has had a tough year, and it just got tougher.

Money, once a New York City cop named Eddie Mahoney before he became a music star, has revealed he's battling Stage 4 esophageal cancer.

He had already cancelled his summer tour dates due to heart valve surgery. His dates had included a Wisconsin State Fair show with Rick Springfield; Starship featuring Mickey Thomas performed instead.

As noted in this Rolling Stone piece, AXS TV will have an episode of Real Money detailing Money’s cancer battle that will air on September 12th on AXS TV. It will focus on Money’s cancer and the impact it has on his family.

As he noted, “What I don’t want to do is I don’t want to keep the fact that I have cancer from everybody,” Money added. “It’s not honest. I want to be honest with everybody. I want people to know that cancer [treatment] has come a long way and not everybody dies from cancer like they did in the Fifties and Sixties. Am I going to live a long time? Who knows? It’s in God’s hands.”

We wish him the best as he deals with this and hope for good news.
