We might be getting another helping of turkey or the Hanukkah Song soon. It's been announced that Adam Sandler is returning to Studio 8H to host Saturday Night Live next month.
Sandler is coming back to host the May 4th episode. It's his first time hosting; he'll be joined by musical guest Shawn Mendes, who wasn't yet born when Sandler was fired from SNL back in 1995.
Lorne Michaels, the legendary executive producer of SNL, said “We are happy to welcome Adam back to ‘SNL’ in what is sure to be a special night."
Sandler’s return to Saturday Night Live surprises many, since he's long said he wouldn’t host. In an interview, he once told fellow SNL vet Norm Macdonald, “Why should I? There are guys who love doing it, who are great at doing it. I just don’t know how good I’d be doing it. I did what I could do on that show.”
He has done a few cameo appearances since his original departure, though, and participated in an SNL short with Andy Samberg for the 40th Anniversary Special back in 2015.
We'll see what everybody has up their sleeves for the upcoming show May 4th! Hmm... wonder if he'll sing with Shawn Mendes?
