St. Patrick's Day fun this weekend

St. Patrick's Day Weekend is upon us, and Madison celebrates with the best of 'em!

Activities this weekend include the Shamrock Shuffle, starting bright and early Saturday at 8am. The Shuffle includes a 5K Walk, a 5K Run, and a 10K Run. Proceeds from the run, walk, or shuffle benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County.

The 22nd annual Madison St. Patrick's Day Parade kicks off at 1:30pm Sunday on the Capitol Square, which is always a fun time... especially if you hit up places afterward like The Old Fashioned, The Great Dane, Cooper's, Genna's.. the list goes on!

Also check out lots of food and drink specials, including:

The Essen Haus, where they become the "O'Essen Haus" for St. Patrick's and say "Irish you were bier.” Check out live music from Tom Brusky Band, Brewhaus Polka Kings, and Deep Pool. Green beer, Irish dinner specials and more all day Saturday and Sunday.

St. Patrick’s Family Fun Day at Brennan’s Cellars is geared toward any age group. Free Irish cream and whiskey tasting are available along with kids face painting and raffle prizes. If you stay for dinner at the cafe, choose between Irish specials like corned beef brisket reubens or a bangers and mash meal.

A Madison Brewery Three-Way: Karben4, One Barrel Brewing and Next Door Brewing are teaming up for the "AllDay3Way" St. Patrick’s Day party, where you get a "Beerfecta" punch card for a punch for each pint. Make it to all three breweries and get a custom pint glass with the logos from all three.

The Thirsty Goat in Fitchburg offers green mimosas, peppermint kiss cocktails, corned beef dinner and shepherd's pie all weekend.

Alt n’ Bach’s is hosting a Rock The Balds head-shaving event Sunday, in partnership with the Madison Fire Department Local 311. People create teams and raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund research for childhood cancer. At 3pm, fundraisers walk onto the volleyball field to shave their heads while guests imbibe in large amounts of corned beef and cabbage all day long. There will be bagpipe performances, too!

vomFASS features all things Irish for their culinary dinner theater Saturday early evening (6pm) and Sunday late afternoon (5pm.). The Chef will prepare traditional Irish dishes, from the familiar (bangers and mash) to the more exotic, like Guinness chocolate cake, right in front of you.

LJ’s Sports Tavern & Grill during its St. Patrick’s Day Celebrationis holding a raffle and contests all weekend, where the grand prize is a trip for two to Ireland! You can also win cash from the 50/50 raffle while you indulge in corned beef and cabbage, a Girl Scout Thin Mints dessert and pints of Guinness, with proceeds to benefit the UW Carbone Cancer Center, GiGi’s Playhouse and Logan’s Heart and Smiles. Tickets are just $10 each.

All the Nitty Gritty locations are offering drink specials all day, with "Top O’ the Morning” specials (10am-1pm) feature $1 Guinness pints and $1 Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey shots. The “Pot O’ Gold Power Hour” (9pm-11pm) offers $1 green Miller High Life pints, $1.50 rail mixers and $2.50 bomb shots. And of course, corned beef and cabbage available all day. You can still get your Gritty Burger too, of course!
