Looks like "Reboot Fever" has hit the stars of the popular 90s show "Mad About You." The Buchmans are coming back with members of the original cast, including Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser, of course.
“We are so excited to finally be doing this,” Hunt and Reiser wrote in a joint press release, "We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show — as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great!”
The concept of the “Mad About You” reboot is simple. While the original sitcom focused on them as newlyweds and dealt with topics like in-laws, sex, careers, pets, pregnancy and parenthood, the new series will focus on what it’s like to be an empty-nester.
Remember as the series wound down, they had a little girl named Mabel? Well, she's all grown up now and off on her own. So now Paul and Jamie will deal with navigating what it's like to be partners again once your parental duties have dropped significantly (apparently Mabel doesn't move back in with them after graduation, in contrast to the stereotype of her generation.)
Hunt and Reiser have remained close since the original "Mad About You" ended. Seeing the success of other reboots like "Will and Grace" proved to inspire them to, as Hunt noted, "to get the old gang back together again."
Hunt appears ready: she tweeted about the upcoming reboot, sharing a photo of her and Reiser in the original show, saying “LETS GO!”
