The group Heart. They were nicknamed "Little Led Zeppelin" in their hometown of Seattle for their remarkable early covers of Zep's work, and had major, lasting hits in the 70s and 80s into the 90s. Now, after several years of uncertainty and some strife, Ann and Nancy Wilson are reuniting for a new Heart tour. Called "Love Is Alive Tour 2019," it includes Joan Jett, Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, and others for select shows. The tour kicks off in July and runs through September, and so far the closest they're getting to us are the expected Chicago and Twin Cities dates. You can get more details and announced tour dates below, but I figured you'd want to see Ann and Nancy talking about it first:
Ann Wilson, who will appear on iHeartRadio Icons tonight live from New York City, said "Both Nancy and I have stretched our wings in life these last three years. We’ve both lived and loved. We have breathed and traveled and experienced life. We come to this tour with fresh energy and oxygen."
Nancy Wilson talked of the all-women lineup: "I think this year is a good year to show the collective impact of some powerful women in music. We would usually steer clear of the female-centric concept, but in the light of current events it seems like the right statement at the right time.”
Joan Jett, of course, has been touring with The Blackhearts for years - including a lot of shows at Summerfest. She released Bad Reputation, a documentary about her life and career, last year.
