On this January 7 - normally a cold and snowy day - we've had temps in the 40s and rain. But along the Lake Michigan coast in Manitowoc, strong winds along with those heavy rains proved enough to "wash" a lighthouse. The waves actually knocked the 20-foot fiberglass tower of the South Pier Light into the waters of the Great Lake, leaving only the concrete base. The Coast Guard is checking it out right now.
