We all know Wisconsin ranks high as a place to raise kids. And now Safewise.com has given our state even more kudos if you're looking to raise "free range" children.
What the heck is that??
Well, the term "free range" children means you raise them with relatively limited supervision - as compared to say, a "helicopter parent" - and give them more autonomy. It's an occasionally controversial topic, since everybody has an opinion on the best balance for that.
But if you're going to go the "free range" route with your kids, Wisconsin is good place to do it. On Safewise.com's list of "50 Safest Cities to Raise a Child" in the U.S., Wisconsin has 16 of them - that's 32% of the total list!
The highest-ranking Wisconsin city is Shorewood at #4.
