New arena rights going to Fiserv?

Fiserv may be close to securing the naming rights for the new $524 million Bucks arena in downtown Milwaukee.

According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, Fiserv is in final negotiations for those naming rights, which could run $6 million per year for 20 years. With $5.69 billion a year in revenue, Fiserv has the money - and lacks "brand awareness" outside of Milwaukee, even though it's one of the largest tech providers for banks in the United States.

Not everyone is saying it's official, including Fiserv's VP/Corporate Communications Britt Zarling. But others are saying negotiations continue and that it seems Fiserv is the most likely at this time.

It'd be cool to have it as the "Fiserv Arena" or "Fiserv Center." BMOHarris Bank remains a large sponsor at the new arena, as does Johnson Controls. I only wish Johnson Controls had secured the naming rights so sportscasters (and immature DJs like me) could refer to it as "The Big Johnson."

Stay tuned!
