Wisconsin is a huge state for deer - they really seem to love it here. What they - and we - don't care for as much is when our car's path and a deer meet, often at high speed. Turns out Wisconsin ranks 6th in nation for deer collisions; only South Dakota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Montana, and West Virginia have a higher rate.
According to this article from BankRate.com, WisDoT logged almost 20,000 collisions with deer during 2015 alone, which accounted for more than 16% of all vehicle accidents.
So what are your odds of hitting one? In Wisconsin, it's 1 in 77... higher if you're up North or driving during dawn and dusk.
And according to this, you gotta really watch it in West Virginia, where the odds are 1 in 41!
