DR. PHIL has been sending OPRAH WINFREY a thank you letter every year . . . for the last 26 years . . . to show his gratitude for helping his career.
On "The Kelly Clarkson Show", he said, quote, "The first time I launched a book on her show, I sent her a huge flower arrangement and a thank you note. I think she had been on the air 17 years at that point . . .
"[She] called me and said, 'You know, out of all the things that I've done, all the books and stuff, this is the first time anybody has ever said thank you.'"
Dr. Phil has known Oprah since the '90s and would make frequent appearances on her talk show. He said she changed his life after helping launch his show . . . and for that, he wants to make sure his gratitude is not forgotten.
