Brewers make flurry of post-trade deadline roster moves

In the post-trade deadline roster shuffling, the Milwaukee Brewers made a series of moves Thursday, including sending Brent Suter on rehab assignment to the Rookie Arizona league.

Pitcher Taylor Williams and utility man Tyler Saladino were optioned to Triple-A San Antonio. Williams, 27, has a 12.34 ERA in eight appearances for the Brewers this season. Saladino, 29, batted just .123 in 23 games with Milwaukee this season, with two of his eight hits coming on grand slams in back-to-back days in July.

Milwaukee also designated Jacob Barnes for assignment. Barnes, 29, had a 6.86 ERA in 18 relief appearances for Milwaukee this season. His move brings the 40-man roster back to full.

The Brewers will promote top prospect Trent Grisham to the big-league club. Grisham, 22, recently hit for the cycle, and has mashed pitching in both double-A and triple-A this season. Between the two levels, Grisham is batting an even .300 with 26 home runs and 71 RBI in 97 games.

Finally, the Brewers transferred pitcher Brent Suter's rehab assignment to the Rookie Arizona league, to Brewers Gold, to round out the moves on Thursday.
