State Fair's triumphant return!

After a year hiatus, people wanted their fried food on a stick this year! Yes, last year during the height of the pandemic, we were able to get Cream Puffs and other favorites with the State Fair Food Drive Thru on the Milwaukee Mile, but it's just not the same...the tastes, the smells, the sites, the sounds!

Yesterday, Wisconsin State Fair officials announced that this years audience, despite the fact that we are still in the grips of pandemic issues, was strong. According to the press release, "...841,074 fairgoers celebrated the 'best 11 days of summer,' enjoying the exhibits, entertainment, food, rides and shopping while also learning about the people, places and industries that make Wisconsin remarkable.

Here are some more numbers:

  • 8,000 animals
  • 7,000 competitive exhibits
  • 40,000 plants/flowers
  • $303,800 raised at the Governor's Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction
  • The Wisconsin Bakers Association sold nearly 300,000 Cream Puffs
  • 47,000 grilled cheese sandwiches
  • 26,000 backed potatoes

Next year's fair will be held August 4th-14th.
