Hear the new Huey Lewis & the News song as Huey talks hearing loss, album

Huey Lewis and the News have enjoyed nearly 40 years of success as a band, although they clearly recall opening for the Doobie Brothers in 1980 on tour and getting boo'ed off stage "every night," according to Lewis. What followed has been a ton of massive hits, many with significant staying power. Huey Lewis appeared in movies like "Back to the Future" and "Duets," and until early 2018 the band played 70 to 80 shows a year for most of the past several decades.

The tide turned in January, 2018 when frontman Huey Lewis had a bout of hearing loss so bad he wasn't able to properly sing on stage, causing the band to cancel the rest of their tour. The hearing loss, caused by Menieres Disease, is something he's been battling ever since.

Lewis said, "The hard part for me, I do miss playing a show now and then. And I miss the guys. I miss the camaraderie, you know?"

The guys still get together though, to test Lewis' voice (just in case) and despite this setback, Huey Lewis and the News have managed to put out a new album that will be released on February 14th. The album is called "Weather," which plays not only on the band's name featuring "News," but their 1983 monster hit album "Sports." The album contains seven new songs, including "While We're Young," which you can preview below. Enjoy, and let's hope Huey's hearing gets better, because they were still playing great shows before they had to stop!
