Let me first start by saying...I wish every day was my birthday! Well it wasn't technically my birthday (it's on Sunday) today but my coworkers sure made me feel special! Thanks everyone!!!
I've said it once and I'll say it again. When a wine is referred to a "power vintage" you know it's going to be good! This week for Happy Hour with Hannah and Otto's Wine and Spirits we visited the Southern Rhone Valley, located in the south of France, and enjoyed the Cotes du Rhone.
It. Was. Perfect. Anyone could enjoy this wine!
This wine, a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah, is a real crowd pleaser. It's very approachable, medium bodied, with lots of red and black fruits, framed by soft spices and balanced acidity. It perfectly pairs with a variety of foods but goes really well with any grilled food. Which is perfect since in Wisconsin we pretty much spend all summer grilling! The reds from the 2015 vintage have shown impeccable balance, have great structure, beautiful character and silky texture in the right measure. Otto's secured one of these outstanding red, a hidden gem that not only is a value for the quality of wine, it received an outstanding review from Robert Parker. Parker is a world renowned lover of Rhone wines, and for him to bestow such a high rating, it demonstrates to us how amazing this Cotes du Rhone really tastes.
