Breaker, Breaker! A Smokey & The Bandit TV Series is in the Works

Remember the movie classic Smokey and the Bandit?? The 1978 film starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason as Buford T. Justice was an instant classic, spawning a few (mostly bad) sequels and inspiring the TV show The Dukes of Hazzard. And now, *breaker-breaker*, we have a 10-20 on a Smokey and the Bandit TV series.

Seth MacFarlane, the guy who brought you Family Guy and many other shows, is the executive producer for the new series, for NBC Universal’s Universal Content Productions (UCP.)

Variety reports that the upcoming TV seriesis being written by Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green and Brian Sides, who have described it as “inspired by the genre of ’70s and ’80s drive-in double-features” as it explores “the crossroads where humble realities meet those larger-than-life, all in a blast of tailpipe exhaust.”

Not sure if this will be good, but I at least hope they'll reveal the ingredients of that Diablo sandwich Sheriff Justice wolfed down next to the Bandit.
