While it won't be nearly as much fun as eating candy bars, researchers have launched a big study to see if supplements containing the nutrients found in dark chocolate can help prevent heart attacks and strokes.

These “chocolate pills” will have the good stuff called cocoa flavanols, that have been known to improve blood pressure, cholesterol, the body's use of insulin, and artery health.

Unfortunately for those taking part in the study, the chocolate pills have no sugar and no fat – so they’re not at all tasty..

If you do want some health benefits from eating actual chocolate, the scientists suggest staying away from the normal stuff – like milk chocolate – and instead reaching for gourmet, organic, dark chocolate.
